I installed some Husky Liner mud/splash guards last night. Other than one hole not lining up properly on the rears they seem OK.

The front flaps fit perfectly against the body line. However the rears, after tightening down, kinda pull inwards toward the wheelwell and thus pull the flap away from the fender leaving a gap where junk can get in there.

I was thinking about getting some black silicon or ??? and filling this slight gap. Anyone ever have luck with this or should I not worry and just hose it out real well when washing the truck.

I saw a guy in front of me this morning with a Dodge 2nd gen and his rears were exactly the same as mine... so at least I know I'm not the only one.

I had the same thing happen on mine which is why they are in the garage and not on my truck. The problem with washing is that abrasive material like sand and small rocks will not "wash" out easily. I had a lot of scratches and rub marks when I took mine off. But it could have gotten a lot worse. You could put some protective tape between the body and flaps ( I think some flaps come with this).

I have these flaps too. They fit my truck very well but they need to be about 2-3 inches longer. I still get lots of junk thrown up from the tires.

Huskys

I have these on my 03 and so far have really liked the way they perform, did'nt notice the inward pull on mine. I don't go off road that much, but still run some gravel roads. I did go ahead and install the clear protective tape that came with the mud guards though. I thought every so often I would pull them off for inspection of any scratches or paint rubbing off and touch up if needed. :D

I took them off. There was already some grit buildup after only one drive in rainy weather. I didn't use the tape as it didn't seem to stick worth a darn and I figured they would end up peeling up anyway.

I ordered some of EricBu12's extended ABS plastic flat mudflaps as advertised in the Classified section of TDR.

I've got some diamond plate flaps with the setback section for hanging rubber flaps... similar to the Northwest customs. But I decided to go with all black accessories so the shiny diamond plate would look right. I wasn't sure how well anodizing or painting them would work.

mud flaps for sale?

Ncostello,

Did I hear you say that you have some unused mud flaps?

I'm looking for the "big rig" style for the rear - heavy duty, 3/8-inch thick, around 12"-wide, 18"-long, with steel tips. Chrome matches the rear bumper and stainless matches the exhaust, so I can't go wrong. I'm looking to buy some. Do you have what I'm looking for and are you selling?

Thanks,

Neil

Boondocker, have you seen the mudflaps at Northwest Custom Mudflaps? While searching I found a thread that mentioned them so I checked them out . Nice mudflaps but kind of $$$. Oh well whats a few bucks after spending $$$ on an 04. 5
