My ’06 came equipped with the overhead console but it didn’t have the built in “Home-Link” garage door remote. After driving it a while, and comparing it to my wife’s Chrysler, I decided I wanted the button. I checked prices and found you had to buy the entire overhead package and it was a bit pricey. After studying it for a bit, I decided to try a different approach.
I took a key fob size remote and removed the case. I tapped into to a constant on 12V+ wire in the console and wired in a small, stick on, momentary contact switch button which I mounted it on the front side of the console, out of normal sight. I stuck the opener inside with some double side tape and reattached everything. I’ve been using it for a couple of months now and I’m real happy with the way it looks and works. It only operates the single door but that’s plenty for me.
