the thing is, my stock turbo went down broke the shaft.

i have a perfect good to4e lying around but its very small i think

but how if i build it into a compound with a hx50 or hx52

the only info on my to4e garret is air/research60 i think or somthing like that ive read.

or please give me advise on what i can put there for a singel

i dont want to much boost and i want somthing to spool fast

the truck is stock just added a programmer smarty pod and custom exhaust. .

so i was thinking of adding a wastegate and drive low boost now

and then put up the boost as i ad injectors and liftpump.

what do you think?

i want to know if you can give me some advice on good holset and switzer

turbos that will bolt up and be better than i stock turbo

because thats the only brands that are easy to get here in finland

i mayby can get turbonetics and garret but holset or switzer would be best.

Hello and welcome!

I'm not familiar with the to4e? I do know that the Garrett BB chargers are some of the quickest spooling you can get, although a little expensive.

If you've got a Smarty, you're already headed down the road of making power. If Switzer's are reasonably easy to get, I'd recommend a twin turbo setup using an S300 over an S400. This will allow the truck to spool quickly and give you some room to grow for power as well.

A good choice for the S300 is the DTech S362 which is a 62/12/65. It has a large internal wastegate to keep drive pressure down. In fact, it would make a decent single turbo on its own if you keep the Smarty turned down. You can read about it here: D-TECH TURBO (HTB2 & Phat Shaft Style)

For the top turbo, either an S475 or S476 would work well.

If you want to buy a pre-made kit, this one is about the most reasonable "quality" kit: 2003-2007 Dodge Cummins Twin Turbo Kit

If you want to just buy the turbos and build the piping yourself, this place has some of the biggest selection and best quality parts you can find: Source Automotive - 2003-2007 Dodge Cummins 5. 9L

do to egts or what?

is 50psi in reach or what will it load and wat can i boost in to a unmodded

600 engine? what will hold up?

Need some answers from you first:

What year is your truck? Do you have gauges? If so, which ones? Manual transmission, or automatic?

The D-Tech twins are Borg Warner turbos. You can go to Borg's site and take in a little data on them, they are a good pair of compounds, I run them and have been really happy with their performance.

If you decide to go with the d-tech twins, or any set of twins for that matter, you will need additional gauges over those things that are good to monitor like fuel pressure, rail pressure, EGT's and transmission temp.

A boost gauge for your primary turbo (usually monitored in your cold pipe, or in my case I put my sensor in the wastegate hose going to the S475), a boost gauge to read the overall boost of them together (usually monitored in the intake horn or intake manifold) and a drive pressure gauge (exhaust pressure-usually monitored in your exhaust manifold).

There are many twins kits available, you might want to do some reading on all of them before you make any decisions as to what you ultimately install. Each of the different kits achieves different things, so identifying your needs is important in getting you to where you want to be the first time around rather than being unhappy and having to change things to finally get what you want in your needs and performance goals.

2005 dodge ram auto. no gauges for the moment. boost egt liftpump-pressure and maby railpressure on the way<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

^^^ Good advice given above.

You don't want to turn Smarty above level 3 without gauges. Even after you have a few gauges (EGT, Boost, Fuel P, Rail P), you still probably don't want to turn it up past 3 due to the transmission.

I'm not very familiar with the ATs, but the starting upgrades would be a valvebody and torque converter to be able to use a little more power.

I think a full transmission build is necessary for levels 7 and 9 on Smarty, if you're planning on using that power. A lift pump upgrade will be necessary as well at that power level.

ALOT of research is definately the best way to go on twins. If you're going to fabricate yourself, study compressor plots, and do a lot of reading to see what is going to fit your goals.

If you're going with a ready to bolt in kit, Nathan at Maximized Performance Inc offers some of the best, as well as Chris at Engineered Diesel. Source Automotive's kits are also very good quality.
