"Gas Guzzler Tax?" Sad But True

Just cruising the dodge site and looking at the new Challenger. Went through the build and price function just for fun and noticed something alarming... . at the end there is a "Gas Guzzler Tax" of $2,100 added onto the sticker when you buy the car! Guess they weren't that worried about it back in the day when gas was $. 35 a gallon. Let's hope their stupidity and greed doesn't fall over into the diesel market... oh wait I forgo $4. 20 a gallon!! :{ Whew I feel better now!

That tax applies to 6. 1 SRT Chargers & Challengers. I don't think the 09 Challenger RT with 5. 7 will have that tax and should be a pretty nice ride.

You are looking at it all wrong. The gas guzzler tax is just paying for the privilege to pay the tax on the gas you put in your vehicle.

Oh I get it. The money that is in my wallet has already been taxed. Then I buy a car and pay taxes on it with already taxed money. Then I have to pay another tax to be allowed to put fuel in it. Then I have to pay a tax to get a license plate so I can drive it. Then I have to pay another tax every time I fill it up. Then I have to pay another tax to drive it on toll-roads. Did I miss anything?
