I just bought a 96 dodge 2500 that was changed from a 360 gas to a cummins. I heard that you have to disable the fuel pump that is in the tank or you will blow the seals in your injection pump. Is that true and if so what do I have to do to fix the problem, I took out the fuse for the fuel pump. Would that be good enough or will that restrict the flow? Its just sitting right now because a few things need to be finished, I want it to be exactly right before I drive it too much. I believe the engine is out of a 94 or 95, the plate is gone so I can't be sure. Anything else I need to know?

I think you would be best to change out the unit in the fuel tank to the one for the diesel. You should be able to find one in the salvage relm. You should be able to pull the one that is in there and just replace it. The wire harness has several wires to the plug on the diesel but just uses the two for the fuel level sensor.

Good luck... ;)

It is possible that the only difference in the modules is the pump. You might be able to just remove it, and keep the rest of the module.
