How much fuel have you put in?

My wife goes to a fuel station and they pumped her full of Gas. She noticed it when she was after adding some additive. Truck is getting towed to have the fuel dumped.

Truck was never run so I believe everying should be fine but is there anything I need to know. The worst problem is I'm in Kansas City, and my wife is home in Winnipeg. Any recommendations? Thanks.

Sorry to hear about the bad luck. Not much you can do but to get the tank as empty as it can get. Once empty, refill with diesel and have the exit line from your fuel filter disconnected and turn your ignition key to the start position momentarily to start the 25 second fuel pump run cycle to purge any possible gas from the fuel lines. I would recommend that this is done 3 or 4 times. Then replace the fuel filter and go through the usual purge cycle a couple of times to fill the filter canister just like a regular fuel filter change. This should help you get it back on the road.

Good luck

Simply draining the tank and refilling with diesel, then doing "bumping the starter" once and waiting 30 seconds should do the trick. No need to replace the fuel filter and go through the purge process if the truck hasn't been run on the bad mix.

The service station is liable for the drain/refill bill, the tow, and any other related expenses. The truck is VERY clearly labeled "diesel fuel only" on the cap and on the fuel door (at least mine is).
