Members,

I just received my DiPricol gauges today :)

Can I request the following pics from you to help with the install, please?

- EGT thermocouple in the exhaust manifold (I have a mini extended magnet now) ;)

- location for picking up the dash lights power.

- location for picking up the IGN power. (I was thinking of running a wire out the to fuse box and installing a fuse jack to the cigar lighter fuse) This would provide a clean install w/o using those scotch clamps.

The instructions say to not connect the pyro power and the trans temp power wires together yet they both require IGN power. Can I connect them at the IGN power source? I think this is due to the additional fuse that is in the kit for the pyro

Thanks!

Louis

I got my power from the headlight switch. Pull the panel off the switch is in and I used the brown wire. Not pulling enough power to mess with the relays. As for the key on power I installed a relay hooked up to the cigarette lighter that turns on a 4 fuse add on I put under the dash that is fed directly from the battery and fused with a 30 amp. That is where I got power from.

This thread is possibly the most thorough on this subject.

I'm not sure what "together" means when you say the instructions tell you not to connect the pyro and trans temp power wires "together". Do they mean in series? If so, that's obvious. But I don't see how this restriction applies if you connect them both to the same power source in parallel?

Unless maybe the two gauges can pick up interference if they're both supplied from the same single wire?

I took my dash light power from the heater control cluster instead of the headlight switch. But I'm the only person on Earth who did it that way.

Dash lights power definately from dimmer wire on headlight switch. IGN power from cig lighter. I ran a power supply lead from the dimmer switch up to the pillar mount and then tapped each gauge into it in parrell. This way you don't have to run multiple wires down to the headlight switch. Makes it really easy. I don't have a pic of the egt sensor right now, but I'll try to take one tomorrow and post it it someone hasn't already. I got lucky and was fortunate enough to be able to install the sensor while the turbo was out for upgrading. Made the install much easier. Could wipe out the metal chips from inside. Something to consider.

Sorry it took so long to reply with the pic. My computer literally crashed. Cat knocked over some of the networking stuff and I just got back running.

Here's a pic of the thermocouple in the manifold. Installed just as the instructions said to.

Thank you to everyone that replied. You provided great insight on this and its much appreciated. I have this week off and if I can get permission from my significant other to spend a whole day (or even portions of a few days) in the garage, I might be able to get it done (or mess up the truck) :)

Seems the festivities around this holiday are taking priority over my childish selfishness surrounding the truck... :-laf

Merry Christmas to all!
