Gauge installation

undefined I am in the process of installing an Auto Meter EGT gauge, which I purchased from the good folks at Geno's.

With the gauge came a pamphlet "2003 Up Dodge Turbo Diesel Gauge Installation Tips". In this is statet:"For power to your light (gauge), t-tap into the dimmer switch orange wire with the white stripe... "

My truck is an '04 (305/555) and I have no such wire color. Any ideas would be appreciated, Thank You very much.

yeh, I remember having the same problem when I did the install on a buddies truck. I had to get a test light and find the correct one.

Take the plug off the back of the headlight switch and look at it as if you were sitting in the driver's seat. GO to the bottom row of wires. Now... if you are facing the switch(plug) as if you were sitting in the driver's seat... it is the second wire from the right on the bottom row.

Just did my gauge install, used the dimmer switch wire - tapped into it - works great.



The wire you want is the one on the bottom row, there are only two of them in this row.

The specific wire you want is the one that is toward the middle, not the one on the end of the row.

The panel with the headlight switch and air vent is one piece. Use a small screwdriver and the whole piece just pops out.

The wire on mine is orange w/brown stripe. Mine is also an 04.
