gauge pod paint

Hey Guys, Going to put gauges in a guys 93 this weekend. The inside of the truck red and I bet the gauge pod when it gets here will be black. I would like to paint it for him to match the red. Anybody do this? What kind of paint and where did you get it? Thanks.

I used DuPont vinyl dye. Any DuPont dealer can mix it up to match the color all ready there. Just use the color chart to get as close as you can. You will need a spray gun or touchup gun to apply it. Dry time is about 1 hour.

what type of pods are you using and where do you get them?

I have a AutoMeter brand A pillar pod. It sets the angle for the gages real good. The other brand I have seen is made by ProPods. It angles the gages up a lot steeper than the AutoMeter does. The ProPod is harder to see with the angle it puts the gages at.

I got the Autometer pod from Genos. Its the only one I could find for this truck. I'm still waiting for it I don't know if its the A-piller or the one that goes on the dash. The Autometer A-piller pod on my '01 sucks. It dosen't fit tight at all, looks good, but I'm always pressing the clips back in. There's no paint out there just that die?

You can try paint. But most likely it won't last long. Regular paint and plastic don't go together to good. The paints made for plastic bumpers would work. But you will most likely go into sticker shock when you price it.



If you try regular paint. Wipe the plastic down with alcohol first.



Its most likely a A pillar model. I don't think AutoMeter made a dash unit. They don't show one in the online website. Only the A Pillar.

I got matching interior paint from the dealer when I did mine. May be lucky and still have some available somewhere. I got the last can (according to the *******) of the dark maroon color that they had in a Portland, OR storehouse. Be sure to clean the pod completely. The dealer's paint was Mopar branded and came in 'flat' sheen only. I then sprayed some semigloss clear over it also to match the sheen on the dashboard.
