As my sig shows, the truck is basically stock and I plan on keeping it that way.

My question for the group is would a fuel pressure gauge really be a necessity for stocker with a 4 spd auto?

Plans are for a transmission gauge but am debating about the pressure gauge.

Thanks.

My BIL tows with his automatic... . hes got a 35 ft 5er that goes about 12K lbs. . He found that he couldn't keep the transmission oil temperature down to a safe level pulling the hills in the Pacific Northwest... . He added the extended pan with a large filter, which added I think 4 additional quarts of oil and that brought the temperature to a level he was happy with...

So I guess I'm saying that if you tow, yes you need a gauge, if you don't tow I'm guessing you'll never need it...

I own 3 trucks with sticks... . we have 240K miles on the 04 towing all the time and have never considered a fuel pressure gauge... .

Because Dodge is quick to void warantees due to bad fuel I added a 2 micron filter. With that addition I felt the need to monitor the fuel pressure so I don't starve the CP3.

There are warning lights you can add to the fuel system that'll do the same thing as a gauge and warn of low pressure. Good to know if your filter gets clogged or the lift pump goes south.

I do plan on adding a transmission temp gauge but, as I stated, Im on the fence about the fuel pressure gauge.

Where would I get the info about installing the warning lights?

It can't hurt to have the added info from the fuel system. Most of our customers that have the man trans get our 3 gauge kit with the Fuel Pressure gauge. If you want a more economical solution you can get the BD Low fuel pressure LED/alarm kit. Link. They're short money for the added insurance. Quite a lot of our customers that buy their gauge kits with the FP gauge get teh alarm LED too. Their resoning is that they don't always look at their gauges, but the LED will cause immediate attention to look at the gauge.
