I will be purchasing some gauges soon, but need some advice. Does anyone have any photo's that you could post, showing the dash mounted gauge pods? I think that is what I want, but would like to see them before ordering. Also, who has the best fitting pods? I am planning on getting a boost gauge, and exhaust temp gauge. My truck is basically stock now and will be (except for maybe a TST plate) until my daughters are out of college, so with that in mind, are any other gauges recommended? Any photo's and advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ron

Ron here is a picture of my pillar pod in my 97. For more info check out my sig. Also you need to check into getting your KDP fixed.

From what i heard, all A pillar pods are made by one company, Auto Meter. As are there dash pods. There are other types of pods on the market too, i have only seen the Autometer models though.

Everything in my picture above is Auto Meter, gauges and pod. I installed them about june of this year and have had absolutely no trouble from them yet. ,

I am in the same boat, just got a 2001 3500 4X4 Quad cab, and I want to add gauges before I start bombing. It seems that eneryone with a 2nd gen is using an a pilar gauge mount, but what about the dash top mount like I have on my 1st gen, is it used any more ? I have been looking for gauges for about two weeks now, and I am more confused than ever. I like the autometer "lunar" series gauges, does anyone use these ? I want to a have a 3 gauge mount in either a pilar or dash top.

not all the same

I got mine from TST. It's a three-holer with tweeter. The gauge pods are straight in line with the A-pillar, not out toward the windshield.

I will take a photo and post it just as soon as my camera batteries are charged back up.

many folks have both...

Whoops, a misread--but I was just following Mark's lead. I mean he made me do it.

Anyhoo, I promised a photo and by dangit here it is. It may prove helpful to those choosing A-pillar mounts. :p

This is the mount TST is selling. The pods don't swing over like Mark's. Also note it's not painted yet and there's a gauge missing. (Waiting on a light)

The pillar mount is very popular and it is easy to run the wires through the dash. You can paint the mount to match your interior color or buy it already painted.

Still not sure which pod and which gauges.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Thanks for the photo's of the a pillar pods. I think they look great, but I already find the pillar and the vent shades, along with the stock mirrors obstruct the view enough without adding more. (just my personal opinion) I know other people don't find that to be a problem. . That's why I'm leaning towards the dash pod. Hey mark, did you find your dowel pin coming out?

No but its more common in 97 models so as soon as Tom @ Black Mountain Diesel got his KDP Jig I made the trip up to get it fixed! Well worth the $$ spent, so I don't have to get a $2K loan later!
