Just installed my Auto Meter gauges on saturday and was wondering if the readings im getting are normal.

EGT (installed 1 and 3/4 inches above the turbo)

250 at idle

725-750 at 70mph

BOOST

19 PSI max on the floor

FUEL PSI (installed pre filter)

11 PSI at idle

3 to 4 PSI on the floor

Just want to make sure i have a good baseline before things get out of hand with the bombing. Fuel pressure concerns me some. TIA

I'm by no means a pro on fuel pressure, but that does seem a little low, everything else seems to be in the ballpark.

Dodge's main autority on Warrenty replacements (STAR) has said that by no means should the Fuel pressure EVER drop below 8PSI at the injection pump.

Anything below 8PSI is a warrenteed replacement. (That is if your warrenty is not, "Null&Void")

Stealer is an IDIOT!!!!

As I said I just installed my gauges this weekend and was concerned about the fuel pressure readings I’m seeing. Today I stopped at the local nut house (stealer) and asked the service manager if he could tell me what kind of pressure I should get out of my lift pump. He said he wasn’t sure and that he would check with their "diesel mechanic". When he finally returned I was told that the fuel pressure can be between 35 and 45 PSI. and that if I wasn’t getting these readings that there is a filter inside the pump that needs checked. What the heck is he SMOKING???? Anyway if someone could supply me with info that I can take with me to another dealer I would appreciate it greatly. I’m leaving for the Winston Cup race in Martinsville in a week and a half and I want it fixed.

Fuel pressure

I would not panic with your #s. 11 idle/ 4 WOT are a bit low and if you can get a dealer to double check with a mechanical gauge and replace lift pump, Great. If not keep an eye on it and be on the watch for further decrease:( Thats what the gauge is for! I just returned from Pa. 600 mi. RT towing, with only 12psi idle/6-8 psi pulling hills. Enjoy your trip to the races:) Jim G.

Fuel psi 12@idol 10 psi@ w. o. t. has never droped below 8psi on a hard (passing a power stroker) pull.

EGT 1350 @2600 RPM in 5th ( passing a dur-max) on a hard pull.

Keep a eye on that fule psi it's a little low. I sample my fuel psi at the base of the fuel filter. It's nice and clean this way because you dont have to remove any of the factory test fittings.

There is a dealer in Dunncannon that is HIGHLY recommended by Jetpilot, I cant remeber the name & the search is down. He says they dont mind bomb'd trucks & seem to know what they are doing. I just looked in the phone book, but nothing was listed. I will keep my eye open though.

Update

Thanks for the info on Forrers Dodge. I had already called them and made an appointment for Wendsday. they were GREAT, on the phone anyhow. When I told them what my fuel pressure was doing they didnt hesitate they just said hold on and we'll see if we have a pump in stock. They even offered me a loaner to boot. :) By the way CVM was the first dealer and they are IDIOTS!!!
