I realize that this question has probably been asked 1000 times, but----I just installed gauges on my ctd today. Boost and pyro. Waiting for more parts to hook up the fuel press gauge. The pyro instructions read to install 1-2 inches after turbo. There was a fitting in the Pacbrake at that point so I installed it there... What should it read down the highway---empty and towing.
2nd---I tee-d the boost gauge into the elbow on the turbo. The elbow had a bleed hole in it and what looked like a set screw in the end of it to close off some of the passage. Is this a stock elbow? I drove the truck down the road and had 2-5psi of boost whether I was with or against the wind. If I floored it in 5th gear and held it I had 25psi of boost at about 80mph bofore I let off. Are these normal readings? I bought the truck as a salvage unit with 65k miles. I have done nothing to it yet--- except K&N filter. Want to look at performance upgrades this spring but want to make sure everything is starting out normal..... THANKS
