New truck on way.

I'd appreciate thoughts on which (3)gauges to get for "A" pillar mount.

Have visited Diesel Manor web-site, and tentatively looking at this set (price for kit +/- $307). :

ISSPRO Gauge Kit, 2007. 5 - 6. 7L Dodge Cummins, 3-Gauge Kit -- Pyro, Boost, and Trans Temp , Full A-Pillar 3-Gauge Mount 03-07 RAM, Gray (adds 10. 00), White Dial, Black Bezel, Red Pntr. , 30 LB Boost gauge, R658SHT-8F-PL - WeatherPack Conn. (adds 17. 00)

Is 30# boost the proper range for a stock engine?

Turbo Temp Monitor also planned (cool to 300 deg. before shutdown)(kit-$160).

Thanks for opinions on other mount locations, which gauges most important(fuel pressure?), preferred brands, etc. :)

Hi Wolfy,

The only other thing I would reccomend is that you also pick up the Sender Extender or G3 Cooler line for the Trans gauge if you don't already have a trans pan w/ a sender port. And for the boost gauge, go with the 40 PSI for a stocker. 30 is too low. Any other questions just give us a call.

Hi David:

Who makes the dash top mount? Will it work on the '07. 5 Dodge trucks? And to confirm, it comes in black only?

Thanks,

Brad

The Dash top mount, Part # AM-15020 is made by Autometer Gaugeworks. Gaugeworks is the manufacturing company that makes all of Autometers mounts. As for the 2007. 5, I honestly cannot say. Any time a new model comes out we have to play a wait and see game to see if the mounts will fit. As soon as we have a new 07. 5 to look at we will try all sorts of thing on the truck.

Sorry,

I didn't complete the questions. Yes, the mount is black. They are in fact paintable and we've just released our own brand of paint called SpectraMatch. It was specifically designed to paint interior plastics etc. All gauge mounts come in black with the exception of the 2003+ Dodge RAM pillars and EDGE Attitude Pillar mounts. Those are moulded in the factory taupe (grey/tan) color. Many folks ask if it will match. Since 2003 all RAM pillars from the facroy come in this color. Becasue of this, gaugeworks decided to make them in the taupe instead of black. Makes no sence to make them in black if everyone will paint them taupe. Becasue of this, they do cost a little more. The plastic costs the manuf. more because they buy less of it then the black material.

David,

Does this mean that if I order, today, the kit I described in the first post in this thread, ... the fit or other factors may be an issue ('07. 5/6. 7L/Auto/4WD Laramie "H")?

And will you address the relative importance of a fuel-pressure gauge vs. the "standard" 3)?

Thanks! :)

The fit may be an issue. We cannot guarantee that it will fit because we have not installed it on that truck yet. Maybe someone else here on the forum has a 2007. 5 with this mount and can chime in.

Fuel Pressure is not as important on the newer trucks as the lift pump has been relocated in the tank and it poses less problems than on the older trucks. Couldn't hurt to have one though. Peace of mind knowing that your fuel pressure is up to par. If you have an auto trans, I'd suggest pyro, boost, and trans. If a man. trans then go pyro, boost, and fuel.

Check out Quadzilla Quad makes a digital guage called the commander that shows engine temp, trans temp, boost and fuel pressure if you order the fuel pressure kit. It can also be set to display warnings and can also control performance boxes. It has a trick pillar mount also.

Hi Fred:

How did the install go for you? Did you also have to buy the sensors etc, or does the unit read that from the ECM? The pictures of the unit on their website look funny. The numbers are odd. Does it look this way on the unit or is there something wrong with the picture?

Thanks,

Brad

I am also considering the Quadzilla but it's not in the budget at the moment. Fred maybe you could post some photo's of yours? Do you loose the grab handle with the A pillar mount? Is the entire A pillar cover replaced or just added onto?

Sorry for the delay

The install is pretty easy. I drilled an tapped a hole in my down pipe so my dealer would not gripe about the turbo I just add 300 degrees to the reading. The boost comes off the map sensor which is easy to see but hard to reach:cool:, the trans temp sensor was the easiest party once I made an adapter for the 1/16npt male to 1/4 npt female. The gauge sits below the handle and the pillar bracket sits over the stock pillar cover, pretty trick . The screen is LCD so the numbers are about 320x320 pixels (I Think). Roark at Quadzilla has pictures of where to tap the map and the engine temp gauge. Just email him at -- email address removed --, try to post some pics soon.
