Does anyone have strobes installed on their trucks?

I've had some Isspro EV's in my truck for a few months now. I like them except for two things.

1. Is there any way to make the backlighting the same color as the OEM gauges? The match is great during the day time, and even at night, the orage pointer matches very well. However, the numbers light up too green as compared to the dash which is bluish/green. I would love to make the gauges all the same color. Anybody know how? I'm sure there are some tips or tricks.

2. The boost gauge rattles. Is there a sure fix for this? I don't know if I should send the gauge back, or if the problem is just in the tubing. Function seems fine, just makes my truck sound like a piece of junk.

Thanks in advance,

Chris

As for the color of the lighting, you can get colored bulb condoms (at least that's what I call them) They should have come, red and green with your gauges, although I guess it depends on which gauge- I know Autometer includes Red/Green with all theirs, Isspro I think only came with green? No matter, Call Isspro, they do have them- A green generally will make the lighting closer to stock.

As for the rattle, there are a few ways around it, easiest is to NOT cut any of the excess tubing that is supplied, instead coil it up somewhere it can't bind up- It will act as a dappener. There is also talk of a different manifold connector with a smaller orifice. This thread has a great deal of info on the subject including links.

Dkevdog,

Thanks for the help. I will try to get the fitting that is talked about in the thread you provided. I never cut any of the tubing, and coiled up the excess, but I still have the rattle. That "snubber" may just be what I need.

As for the gauges, I have the green bulb "condoms" on already, but they make the gauges green, vs. the blue/green of the dash. Any ideas for matching the blue/green? I know, I'm being picky.

I have mine all white- I'm not picky about the match, heck I even have three different vendors gauges , IMHO I have them there to provide information, not just to look pretty :p - I'm just kidding with ya... ... ... I have 6 gauges now, and am trying to find a home for eventually two more.

Now..... back to your question. I am not 100% sure, but if my memory serves me I seem to remember that the VDO gauges look pretty dang near stock with the condoms they provide. They are green, but more of a blue/green. Other than that though, I would suggest finding out what bulb number is used, and see if an actual pigmented (colored) bulb is available. With the rice rockets nowadays, seems they make just about every color bulb imagineable  !!

On my EVA's I've got a light coat of blue paint to work on the bigger bulb in the boost gauge but am still working on the small bulbs in the temp and pyro. If the paint doesn't look right just clean it off with thinner and try again. If you get the paint to thick the color will look ok but the pointers won't light up at all.

One thought on the pressure fluxuations.

Maybe a needle valve between the manifold and the tubing line, and turn the needle valve ALMOST all the way closed. Acts sort of like a snubber and easily obtainable at your local plumbing supply. Once you get the needle valve set where you want it, tighten the packing nut snug so it doesn't change the setting. It will still pass pressures, but reduces the pulsations significantly.

gauge lighting

c-hawk! You can go to one of the bigger truck stops and probably find

any color bulb condoms you need. Oo.

BLUE CONDOMS

I used the blue condoms and they seem to match much closer than the green. Anyone who has seen or been in my truck think there stock, thats how close they are. I consider it exact not close. Oh ya they are Autometer gauges with Autometer blue condoms, other companies blue might be different shades. Well good luck... ... Dwayne... ...
