I finally go my gauges installed after 8 monthes with bombs, and I have a few questions. The boost gauge kind of acts funny in that it won't really move then jumps to 10 psi and then jumps again to 20 psi when under hard acceleration. Tops out at 30 psi with the boost elbo that comes with the Ez. Are these jumps like this normal or is there something wrong with my install? Also how much boost can I expect from a Ez and 275 Rv's if it is 1psi per 10hp then I should get around 32-33psi and still in the effective range for a Hx35 should I just plug the elbow or leave it alone? And when should you start seeing boost readings when you put the transmission in say 2nd gear , with moderate accel or just when you romp it:D

Thanks and sorry it's kinda long

Jared:D :D :D :D Lovin' it every day now!

JaMan:

I have an 01. 5 with an auto with 275's and an ez and am running SPA gauges. My boost starts showing up as soon as I get underway and goes up relativiely smoothly. Generally I don't see anything above 29psi but max recall on my gauge shows it hits 32psi. If your boost gauge jumps in 10lb increments maybe there is a kink in the line or a sticking needle.

I've noticed my boost gauge working funny I would say. My DiPricol gauge shows no boost in first and minimal in second. In third if I get up to about 2300 revs I start to build boost fast, fourth and fifth is when the needle really climbs. My truck is totally stock engine wise... the only mods I have (so far) is a straight pipe and K&N. Double check all of your lines and make sure it's all nice easy bends in the tube. Just my $0. 02 worth.

For the funny acting boot gages, make sure you have not over-tightened the connection on the little air lines. That will act as a restrictor (boost fooler) if you wrench too hard and crush them down. Check both ends of the line and look for kinks or crack in the line if your using the plastic style. ;)

Found a kink right behind the gauge in the A-pillar but it keeps bending back over now and won't stay straight. :( may have to replace a section of the line.
