Just got my Z series, I have 2 conflicting set of instructions for the EGT gauge one says drill 7/16 and tap 1/4, the other says drill 5/8 tap 1/8, Wich one is it? On the autometer instructions the fitting is identified as 1/8 npt.

I have Bosst/EGT/transmission temps, any sugestions for the lighs/power tap ins? Which fuse/wire do you guys use? Can you put 2 power/lights on the same one?

thanks for the help guys,

DON'T DRILL A 7/16" HOLE AND 1/4" NPT

If you do, you'll have to use a bushing. The correct is 1/8" NPT w/correct drill size. I got stuck having to use a bushing:mad:

Hope I'm not too late w/this info.

Good luck

identified as 1/8 npt.

If it is a 1/8 probe then use a 5/16 drill bit and the 1/8 NPT tap. I just installed a set on my truck last week. For B+ i used

a "add- a-Line" fuse accessory made by Buss Fuses Part# BP/HHA it installs where the factory fuse is(i used the blower fuse) an gives you a new fused pigtail

Hole size

Got it, thanks. 1/8 tap it is. If I don't want to "add a fuse" can I just cut the top wire an solder the guages light wire to it and cover it with heat shrink? Is 2 lights on same fuse OK or only 1 light per fuse?

I tried to use the add a line fuse from Little Fuse I think the name was. They had two sizes, bought one of each to be sure. The big one did not fit at all. The little one when inserted in place of the exisiting fuse the little jaws would not hold it very very lose. Wound up not using it and pretty frustrating as these little devils are expensive!!!:eek:To Bad thought it was a great idea!!!:(

BFC, I don’t see why not, I did mine similar to that. What I did was to solder the leads from the lamps back on to the mains that feed B+ and ground to the gauges then cover them with the plastic sleeve. The only down side is the lights are on when ever the key is turned on. But if you got your gauges from Geon’s I think they will replace the lamps for free if they burn out. I wired them all to the same fuse and installed a 3 amp fuse. Working fine so far.

Gauge Lights

If you're picking up power from the fuse box at the left end of the dash, you have the option to tap into the dash light illumination circuit if you want your gauge lights to go up and down with your dash lights. I'm at work and driving the Volvo today, so I don't have the fuse number right now, but it works great with my Westach gauges. I also picked up switched B+ in that fuse box using the Radio Shack mini-taps and spade connectors.
