Just bought a nice low milage 2001 ho 6sp 410s. I do not plan on doing any mods nor do I plan on towing anything, have always wanted this truck and will use primarily as sunday driver. I have ordered a fuel press guage and a FASS lift pump which has been great in my 2002 work truck. If I do no mods is there a need for the pyro and boost, in other words could I do damage to a stock engine if I put my foot into it?

You would probably never hurt anything, but an EGT gauge is a good way of knowing when your turbo has cooled enough to safely shutdown after driving. Randy

I have been trying to think of a time where your EGT would be high enough to wait to shut down even on a pull. I don't recall one but I am not stock and a long time since I was. I would say this if you don't want to buy and EGT. You will know if you need to wait a few minutes prior to shutdown. Example 80mp up a 6% grade AC running and you pull over immediately as u top the hill. Make sense to wait a few minutes. If you can do that I don't think you need an EGT. If you can't do that then buy EGT guage.
