My truck is a 2000 quad cab short bed 2500 auto. This weekend I installed my pyro and boost gauges. My suspicion was correct and I'm getting what I think are high egts for my setup. The truck has an older Van Aaken box on it that just modifies timing and pulse. I posted a while back about climbing engine temps when pulling long grades empty and these are the times my egts are getting high. On about a mile and a half long pull today running 65 mph my egts climbed right up to 1200 and would've continued had I not eased off the go pedal. Boost was under 20 psi. Cruising at 60 mph and on the throttle just a hair up a small grade I'll get 900* with only about 6 psi of boost. I've been followed uphill and told there is no noticeable smoke. It is possible my injectors aren't stock.
I'm just fishing for comments. Can the simple box on my truck make me need to watch the go pedal so much when unloaded?
Putting more air to my engine would make me happier as well as a new exhaust setup for nothing more than lowering egts. But I'm not convinced this is where I should start.
I also have my transmission temp sender left to install. Where are you guys getting your little weld in bungs? I want to get that finished up this weekend.
Also, with my fp gauge is it necessary to fill the tube from the isolator to the gauge if my line there is only about 3 ft. long? The instructions are confusing and say to fill the isolator but not the tube if it's less than 6 ft. Then in says to bleed the air out of that line. How in the heck to you bleed air out of a sealed line? There's nothing to take its place.
Just looking for some experiences and comments. thanks!
