Gauges red line

Can anyone tell me what the transmission redline temp is on a 48RE transmission? Also what is the Pyrometer (EGT) redline temp for a 5. 9 almost stock? I'd like to mark my isspro gauges.

Pyro should not see more then 1300* for extended periods if plumbed pre turbo, where it belongs . Auto I imagine should not see more then 250*,outlet from trans. ( I'm a stick guy ! )

Thanks, I was told pyro not more than 1450* and trans not more than 250*. I think your pyro is a better number. (I coudn't find a 5. 9 w/ stick when I bought this truck) The auto isn't bad, especially in stop and go traffic.

The CR5. 9 was tested for 30 minutes at 1500 degrees so they can probably run that way forever. Me? I back off at 1200.

That's a conservative number, Think I'll redline my gauge @ 1300 and yellow line it @ 1200 - 1300.

Carson Dodge told me 1350 will let it run safe. My ISSPRO gauge showes red at 1350

Where did you find this info? Not doubting, just would like to read about it.

Oh and 1200 is the highest I like to sustain also.

In the early days of the CR, Cummins put out this info but after all these years, I don't remember where exactly I read it. Sorry.

P. S. WalkingTall ~ your right, thats pretty conservative but I have this fear of dropping a valve seat and usually, I have no need to go over 1200. Unless of course I'm spanking that Durapad going over Snoqualmie Pass (with trailers)
