What is everyone using to seal the threads on the gauge sensors?

- trans temp and boost: I was going to use "sensor safe" RTV.

- EGT: I was going to use anti-sieze.

My trans temp sensor has only 1 wire, it grounds thru the sensor body. If I use the sensor safe RTV, will it still provide a good ground?

On the engine, I see some white caulky type stuff on the NPT plugs for the hot coolant on top of the cylinder head, but I don't know what this is.

Thanks,

Louis

copper based anti seize on the pyrometer probe

boost you can put in dry if it is a brass fitting into aluminum. it will seal nicely, but with some pipe dope or teflon tape, it will come apart easier if you want to remove it later for some reason.

rtv will work good for the trans temp sensor. it will get a good ground through the sensor body as the threads will still be metal on metal. the rtv will get squished out of most of the threads, but will dam up in the root of the thread pitch and help seal there.

don't worry so much about the sensor safe rtv. . oxygen sensors are overly sensitive to the off gassing from curing silicone. we got none to worry about
