I only recently had my truck/trailer weighed, so I've only recently paid attention to the axle ratings. According to Ram's towing chart for my 2015 2500, GAWR front and rear should be 5750 and 6000 respectively. However, the door jam sticker says 6000 and 6500. Good quandary to have I suppose. The only configuration with that rating on the chart is a Megacab sb (mine is a crew cab).

Any idea why mine would have higher axle ratings? My truck does have the "Heavy Duty Snow Plow Prep Group", but the window sticker says that consists of a 220 amp alternator and a skidplate. Could that be the reason? If so, do you think there really are upgraded components in the front end?

Are you positive the towing chart data isn't for a 4x2 and your truck is a 4x4? They will often up the GAWRs on a 4x4 to compensate for the weight of the transfer case, front driveshaft and heavier front axle. At any rate, what governs is what's on your door sticker.

Yep, positive. See the second page, "Crew Cab Short Box 4x4" https://www.ramtrucks.com/assets/towing_guide/pdf/2015_ram_2500_towing_charts.pdf

I have not doubts that the door sticker is the proper rating, I'm just curious more than anything, as to why mine is higher.

On a side note, after weighing, I too found myself in a similar situation that others have mentioned.....I'm over GVWR, but well within both GWAR's, but after reading several discussions about it, I now know it is not a concern.
