I'm now installing a VA C3. 2 box for someone and the velcro that came with it is male to male (just the hook side). Someone else mentioned theirs was like this too.

Is this a special type of velcro that works that way, or should I get some regular "straight" velcro?

Thanks.

Blake

It works that way (even grips better if you lay the strips at 90* to each other) but does not mix well with "regular" velcro. Maybe it's the English version?

Thanks for the quick reply!! I'm installing it right now, so I will just use the "English" version that came with the kit.

It may not be hooks and loops. My "speedpass" transponder is mounted with velcro strips that are thick nylon threads with a small ball end. So is the other strip. They will interfere when trying to pull apart - not enough space on the same plane for all the little balls. No comment on the "lifestyle" of the new velcro.

The "gay" velcro holds more solidly and rigidly; it's the heavy duty stuff. The "straight" velcro lets things wiggle around. Problem with some heavy duty velcro is the velcro is often stronger than the sticky stuff holding it on so it pulls off instead of coming apart like it's supposed to.

A friend of mine has the Edge with Velcro, my VA came with Velcro and we know to yank it off for any warranty work but I don't like the story those 2 strips of Velcro tell and wanted something different plus that would hold better.

I drilled 4 small holes in the cover and zip tied it on. There is enough cable to move the cover out of the way for fuse access leaving it all connected and if I need to take it off I will just cut the ties.

If they ask why the holes. . Ill just say to let the heat out and let them laugh at me.

I thought of doing that as well but was worried about moisture and water dripping on top of the fuses. Maybe overly paranoid!

Blakers,

I know what you mena about the smnoke!! My VA CP3 L2 is stacked with the Edge EZ I had before. I get some nice puff's of smoke and I'm slowly moving the EZ up a level at a time. Maybe time to try EZ L3 with VA 100%.....

I did use the velcro strips, but installed it vertically on the back of the washer fluid reservoir. Fit perfectly there.

Not at all... that is a good point. I made the holes smaller than the zip so they pull through pretty tight but yes you wouldn't want to blast pressure water right at the hole.

Another idea is to simply have a 2nd cover for Dealer trips if they are not that much.
