Well, got rid of the 4. 10's today and had a set of 3. 54's installed. WOW, big difference in the truck. Still accelerates hard and gets up to speed faster than before. Now we'll see what the milage does(if I can keep my foot out of it for a tank of fuel #ad
) Won't pull the trailer for a month or so , will have to see how that goes.

The rebuilder also checked the clutch pack in the limited slip and found them to be completly shot so had these replaced as well.

I asked the rebuilder about synthetic gear lube and he surprised me when he said he considered it a waste of money. He seems to think changing the fluid every 25K will head off any problems. Think I'll run the fluid he put in for a few months and then replace with synthetic. Any comments on this? ( I know, there are lots of posts about this and thats why I'll change out)

Sounds great. I've allways had the 3. 54s. I was wondering what kind of labor you had to pay? I need to get my rearend rebuilt, new clutch packs ect. On the subject of synthetics what I had a mechanic tell me is that there are significant advantages but he said that some people think because they use synthetics they don't have to change. He told me if you run synthetics and still change once and a while like 25k it will head off a lot of wear. My dad bought a new Kenworth a few years back and they told him if he changed to synthetics after brake in they would extend his warrenty on the rears. Sorry to ramble hope this helps.
