Are there any brake upgrades for an 89 one-ton?

Last Sunday I noticed oil on the driveway under the front of the truck. Oil all over front of engine and front axle.
Took the truck to the dealer.
Good news-covered by warranty.
Bad news-a dowel was sheared off and went through the gear housing cover. D/C can not locate a replacement. Part number is 4671241AB.
Does anyone know how to go about locating one of these?
Even local Cummins shop, Southern Plains can not provide one.
The story is that all of the parts boxes are mislabeled. Go figure.
Many thanks,
Missing the truck.

This is a well known failure point on our Cummins. Come to think of it, it is the only common failure that I know of. It happened to me too. Cummins West in San Leandro CA provided the new part. I also needed a new cam and gears. I got lucky and it went through the top of the housing. Others have had it go through the gears causing bearing and crank problems. When they replace the housing, insist that they use one that has the new improved design that captures that dowel and does not allow a repeat. The problem is that on the original, the locating hole for the timing cover has a through hole, not a blind hole, and the dowel pin can rattle right out of there and cause a lot of grief. Good Luck and hope your rattlin' again soon.

I would assume since this is covered by warranty that DC would have to fix it. If they cant find the part then the only option would be to replace the whole engine. If they are going to make you wait forever then they should provide you with a replacment vehicle to drive. Good luck.
