2009 3500 6 speed auto with 34000 miles all at once developed a whine like sound that is progressive from about 25-35 mph in high gear but seems to fade awady at higher speeds above 50 mph. It sounds like it is comming from the left front area but on a smooth road with the window down, you can not hear anything comming from the front end. It has been to the dealer and after inspection, they stated they thought there was a teflon liner in the hydro boost hose that had failed but it is nothing to worry about.

manual shfiting has no effect, EB on or off has no effect and it doesn't appear to be getting worse after 1500 miles but I don't want it leaving me out on a lonley road. Anyone have this problem and what is the solution.

Tires wearing funny in the front ? Son said the same thing as you. Went out and took a look and the GIANT TIRES were wearing funny. Got it aligned and rotated the tires and hummmmmm went away. Just a thought

Dealer checked all drive train for loose joints and bad bearings, nothing found. This noise rises and falls with the engine rpm. It has remained constant and since showing up (about 2000 miles ago)has not gotten louder. I would think a bearing would gradually get louder. Transmission shifts fine both up and down with no hard shifts or slipping noted. Thanks for all the comments

Check the power steering pump and the drive belt also for looseness, wear, etc. Make sure the hose coming off the intercooler is not loose either. My transmission developed a new rattle noise at idle, very faint but discernible. Turned out it was three shorn rivets on the DMF torsion plate. Hmmm.....
