This White Paper is very detailed and thorough in its report of testing, for the products they covered. The new Amsoil product seems to be superior. I note that Kevin Dinwiddie was involved in this study (see Appendix 2). He is a professional, degreed “oil man” and has always told the truth, whether “politically expedient” or not. He formerly worked for Lubrication Engineers and some of us are still using LE 607 in our differentials. It has been a good product and I would like to see how it compares to the more modern offerings from Amsoil and others. I have heard that it has been replaced by LE1607. Knowing Kevin, I imagine that any product he develops and “stands behind” will perform well in any objective comparison test. My intention here is not to muddy the water, but to help us who have supplemented “white paper” tests with our real world results so we will be confident that the new lube is the best for our usage. I recently talked with Kevin who has worked for Amsoil for several years now, and he told me that comparisons to products from his former employer are in the works. That is good, because a major limitation of LE has been their minimal advertising of their products' performance, or of any comparisons to any other brands. Having Kevin involved with Amsoil gives me considerable faith in the Amsoil product line that he is developing.
