Gear Ratios for G56 and 6.7? Same as 5.9?

Does the G56 6-speed hand shaker have the same gear ratios mated to the new 6. 7 versus the 5. 9?



Just curious because I read somewhere that it changed (as in a better overdrive).



Also--does the exhaust brake also come with the 6-speed, or is the 68RFE auto required?

I don't know about the gear ratios but the exhaust brake comes with both the 6-speed and the 68RFE.

There are two different G56 transmissions. The last two letters on the bar code located on the right side of the transmission case are AD or AE. Here are the ratios for the AD in order of first gear through the forward gears and then reverse: 6. 29, 3. 48, 2. 10, 1. 38, 1. 00, 0. 79, 5. 74. For the AE: 5. 94, 3. 28, 1. 98, 1. 31, 1. 00, 0. 74, 5. 42.

I just bought a 5. 9 and it was Manufactured in Late Dec 06... I got the new G-56... Boy do I like it better than the one in my 06!:-laf

I went out first thing this morning and checked my serial number on my G-56. It is for my 07 5. 9 l. My last two letters are AE. Which means I have the new Trans. I guess it helps to have a truck that was made on DEC 31st!!!! Oo.
