Gear Ratios & Speeds for Manuals
As some of you are aware I am preparing to move up to 19. 5 or 22. 5 wheels. To properly calculate ratios and such I made up a chart. You all may share. Right now it is based only on the Manual trannys. The Left portion shows RPMs @ 75mph in Overdrive base on the tire size and ratio listed. The Ratio's were selected because they are available (either stock or aftermarket) in both the Dana 60 and 80 (I'm 4WD).
The right portion is the speed achieved @2000rpm in the selected gear for the given ratio and tire. I have listed tires up to 40", the 31. 5" tire is the average tire size from various makers for the 235/85-16. I will update this from time to time to add the other trannys for you gents.
Thanks to RADdodge for his idea about breaking down the speed for individual gears. He also has a fantastic spreadsheet for figuring out ratios and such for moving tire/wheel sizes up.
