Not everytime, but at least a few times a week I will shift into a gear, it will feel like its in, the selector light will light up correctly, but the truck is still in neutral. I mention it whenever I go in for service and big surprise: they find no problem. A search brought up some trucks that "fall out of park", but it doesn't seem to be widespread. Anyone else have these issues? It happens with drive and Reverse.

Thanks, Dave

Is the truck still in warranty? This seems like a very dangerous condition, and one I would bring to the dealers attention before someone gets hurt.

Just my opinion... (I don't own an auto so I can't intelligently advise you what might be wrong).

Ryan, I mention it every time I go in. Just to clarify it doesn't ever actually slip out of a gear, it simply finds some no man's land between gears like maybe neutral is too wide.

Can you duplicate it at will? If so, the next time you go in for service, "show" the service manager the problem. You might also think about another dealer if that is a option.

Good luck.

I have found that the selector has very poor detents built in. All three of my third gen 48re trucks are like this. You have to pay attention when shifting them, more than I think you should have to, but don't feel like the Lone Ranger, I think it is an across the board problem.

Agreed. I think the detents are too soft. I doublecheck reverse by lifting up on the shift lever until it is forced against the stop. I've experienced no motorvation in reverse a bunch of times and a shuddering once when backing up after the truck has sat for a few hours. I'll see if the dealer can find anything as he has it now for some other warranty work this week.
