I plan to install an exhaust brake. I would like to rig the defeat switch to work off of a push/pull gearshift mounted switch instead of using the microswitch on the throttle. So far, my web searches have been unsuccessful. Does anyone have any ideas of where to look? Thanks

He sells the two speed switch with a neat little bracket to mount it on the stick. I did just what you are thinking about, chucked the microswitch/bracket assy that came with my BD brake and wired straight to the stick switch. I used the cig lighter hot wire which is a key on hot wire.

I use a Five dollar boat switch from Wal-Mart . It has a crome knob , made a mount covered all of it with Epoxy gas tank puty after attaching the wire leads mounted right next ot shift knob works fine don't have to remove hand to use on or off also left other switch on dash because it has a led light on and is wired in line , works for me , ran wire under the boot at shifter to other switch . saved about 30$ LOL Ron in LOUISVILLE KYOo. Oo. Oo. :D

I just installed a Jacobs E-brake. Mounted a toggle switch on the shifter, did not use the rocker switch that came with the kit.

I used a Neihoff $5 lighted toggle from the local farm supply store, but a universal push/pull headlight type switch would work too.

I bought a foot long piece of vinyl tubing 3/4" ID, 1 inch OD. It was clear, but I spray painted it black, lubed it with a little dish soap and then slid it over the wires that I ran up the stick, and without a close look, you'd never see the wires. Looks a little neater/professional in my opinion.

For right now, I just taped the switch in place, but when I get caught up again, I will build a bracket for it. Dad built a bracket for his, and loves it.

Another way to hide the wires is remove the shift knob and get some black shrink tubing the right size and full shifter length, put it all together and shrink it and it looks really good.

I use both the foot switch and the shifter switch in series. If you use the shifter switch only there is the danger of having the e-brake on while the throttle is open. This can cause some dangerously high EGTs in a real hurry.
