My truck is a 2001 2500 4x4 Quad-cab short bed w/ 3. 54 gears and the 6-speed HO 24-valve cummins package. I purchased the truck in June of 2000 and in July had installed a Gear Vendors over-drive unit. The unit has worked fine but has caused my cruise control not to hold in 6th gear overdrive. I have taken the truck to the dealership and they said that the PCM (computer)reads road speed and r. p. m. and that with the overdrive engaged the r. p. m falls out of the range of the PCM and thus is disabling the cruise control. Gear Vendors tells me that I am the only person that has complained about this problem yet they have only given me one reference to someone that doesn't have the problem. I am stuck between the Factory and Gear Vendors neither of which will assume responsibility for the problem. Does anyone have this exact truck package with a Gear Vendors unit that is having or not having the same problem that I am? The Gear Vendors unit works fine with 4. 10 gears so please don't respond if you don't have 3. 54's. Thanks.
