got to my job friday get out of the truck look under it see fluid up front find out its the gear box looks like its leaking from the top cover has any body had this problem and can it be fixed or does it have to be replaced

My gear box started leaking about 39k. Took it in to dealer and they said it had a little bit of play in it and replaced it under warranty.

got one prblem with taking it back to dealer it has over size tires /275/70/22. 5 so every body knows what the dealer will try to put blame on im going to try it any way but if not where can i find that part with out getting it from the dealer thanks

I'd like to know as well. I crawled under mine saturday, and mine is leaking as well. I may have the same dealer problem as I'm running 35x12. 50 toyos. Truck has 24k miles.

Guys dont worry about the tire size, this is a problem on alot of trucks including mine. First time they changed the gearbox it was only at 3000 miles with stock tires. Second time it was 53,000 miles with 325-17-70's and they changed it again including the power steering pump. Just show confidence to the service writer that you know what your talking about, because they will try and tell you its the tires when its not.

If they give you a hard time just print out every thread on this problem and show the service manager (proof is in the pudding) that this is a problem on most trucks.

The box in my '04 3500 went at 11,000 miles with stock tires and was covered under warranty. I know all dealers are different when it comes to mods and warranty coverage, but steering boxes wearing out prematurely is nothing new to Dodge. Just take it back to the dealer and see what they say.
