how do I find out what gears I have and what rear axel do I have



looking to lower the gears casue of larger tires 35 inch and dident know what is avable to me or if it was even smart to do

Stock your 89 W250 auto came equipped with a Dana 71 with 3. 07 gears. That axle housing will only accept a 3. 07 r&p. You'll need to find a Dana 70 3. 54/4. 10 housing to accept any other r&p, sorry.

The 89s also came with a 3. 54 in some autos- I know a guy had one back in the day. 70mph was it.



As for the 35" tires, I thought that's what pump tweaks and injectors were for. :-laf: You'll finally have some sane RPMs at highway speeds.

where did dodge list on the truck what gears it might have cause speed wise it tops out at 65/70 mph



I know on my o1 they put in the glove box

On the metal tag that might be/not be on the rear end cover bolt or the sticker under the hood driverside. 3. 07 gears.

Or you can go old-school... . chalk mark the tire and chalk mark the driveshaft and with the truck in neutral on level ground :-laf..... roll the truck forward one tire revolution while counting how many times the mark on the driveshaft passes. If for example the driveshaft rotates 3 1/2 turns then you have 3. 54's.

A 727 with 3. 54s and 35s would probably be ok, a getrag with 3. 54s and 35s sucks.
