When you switch from 3:54 to 4:10 do you need to change the carrier, or do they use the same one.

Pretty sure its the same. Do you still have the 3. 54s I know someone in your area thats lookin for a set to replace his 4. 10s

yes I still have the 3:54's, there in the truck, Some have told me yes you need 4:10 and lower carrier, and some have said it's the same. Is there somebody that did the swap from 3:54 to 4:10 that could tell me, did you have to change carriers.

You CAN use the same carrier if you get a THICk 4:10 ring gear. I know randys ring and pinion sells them.

I Know that in my 1500 ram when i went to 4. 10's i had to change the carrier on the front axle.



Just call Randy's Ring and Pinion and ask them they will know right off the bat

Dana 60 requires new carrier or ring gear spacer/thick gear. Dana 80 would require the same, but I know of know one that makes a spacer and have never seen thick gears for the Dana 80.

I have a nearly new D80 4. 10 R&P if you are interested, only about 4 hooks and 3k miles on it.

Dana 60 and Dana 70 are 4. 10 and down, same carrier.



Dana 80 I believe is 3. 73 and down... not 100% on that one.

Your saying the same thing. 4. 10 and lower as in lower number, not lower gearset. 3. 55 and 4. 10 use the same carrier.

so I could get away with the front D60, I already have stock D60 4:10 gearset for front, would they work or would I need to get thick gear set.
