I was pulling a 20ft camper 2. 5hrs north, and an hour and a half into the trip the red (GEN) light appeared in my lower speedo gauge. Is my alternator on the way out? any insight is helpful. Thanks Gabe

I am gong to guess that it is already gone an dnot charging to spec for what it should be. To get by you can tie up the shutoff solinoid after you get the truck started and drive it, but once you drag the battaries down you will lose the spedo, HVAC, etc. I don't know where you are but check you messages.

The battery temp sensor sends temp readings and the ASD relay (automatic shut down) send line voltage to EVR located in the PCM. EVR takes this dated and determines charge rate for alternator.

I would check the battery temp sensor, asd relay, fuse in PDC,wiring and alternator to see if it is one of those.

If not one of those it is your EVR which means you have to replace the PCM or put on a remote Voltage regulator.
