Hey guys,

I don't have the owner's manual for this truck I bought but its a 96 2500 4x4 Cummins 12 valve, and a red GEN lit up under the speedometer. Can anyone tell me what this means? Is it important? Does it mean My engine stepped up from a gen 2 to a gen 3?!

Thanks

Andy

What does the voltmeter read? If it is around 8v or so, may be a blown 120 amp fuse in the PDC under the hood. Held in place with 2 screws.

It means you are having trouble with the chagring system.

You can check out the asd relay.

The battey tempature sensor/connector/wiring (located under neath driver's side battery tray).

Engine speed sensor connector/wirring (dirty or bent/loose pins)

Thanks guys, I'll check it tomorrow morning. I figured it was something electrical (hence GEN), but my volts are great according to the guage. I'll check under the dash and hood tomorrow. Once again, thank-you.
