Well I have been doing this for yeras and never thought of shouting it out.



Take a 5 gallon bucket with a lid ... . Drill a bunch of ¼ inch holes a ¼ inch apart arround the circular rings on the lid in the innermost 2 rings and re install the lid. When you change filters just sit the old filter ontop of the lid up side down and leave it there until the next oil change. By then the old filter will be completely empty and you can then toss it.

Yeah, and

a buddy of mine -a bit further back in the sticks- pitches them into the woodstove and they come out dusty and dry when he cleans out the ashes.

Oil filter

I like to drain mine before I toss 'em too, but I've found that they drain more completely if you punch a hole in the end as it sits in whatever you're draining it into.



A coupla' weeks and there ain't much left in a filter after doing this.

Why wait to drain just put it in a large zip lock bag and toss. :-{}

Environmentally correct

Can't put them in the garbage here unless the end has been removed and the filter media removed. I don't know what you are supposed to do with the internals? Big fine if cought and you have to drive a Power Stroke for three years. bg

Dang, I've been throwing mine in the garbage can (in the zip-loc bag) along with the empty oil bottles, and BFI's been picking them up for 5 years. Guess I'd better check out the accommodations at Huntsville, huh??

wal-mart , Auto Zone , most places that sell the oil take the old oil and the filter . The oil is re cracked and the filter is taken away to some unknown place for who knows what. Ron Bissett in Metro Louisville KY

Now we know where quaker state gets their oil from. It's recracked pennzoil.

Just don't let that pail sit in the sun too long. I admit to doing that ONCE and when I picked it up it split into many pieces. HazMat special.
