General price on an auto trans rebuild

I'm looking at a 97 with 4x4 and auto trans.
I dont believe it's bombed much. It needs a trans rebuild and turbo.
Original owner, 300K+ miles. I think I can get it for 2K (Looks pretty ratty....)
What's a transmission going to cost me? I dont need a trans capable of 500HP, I'm thinking a stock rebuild plus torque converter and a few beef up parts & shift kit maybe.
I DONT want to go broke on this thing....

I've had 2 done in the past, simple no frills rebuilds on 2 47re's with just a shift kit.These were work trucks... both times about $2,500.

A good torque converter alone will be in the 1k neiborhood,not a place to pinch pennys

I’ve had a couple done by my local transmission guy and a reman transtar torque converter, nothing fancy and it was 1250.00 each (including the torque converter). It’s really going to depend on the converter you choose as well as the amount of hard part damage, if any, that your transmission has.

My trans guy charges 250.00 to bench it. I do the removal/install.
