Not an Rv ? but a Jetski Question

I am looking at the new Guardian RV 7. 5 lp generator for a l-q horse trailer, any one out there know about these genny,s.

isn't that a Generac Brand ?... if it is look at the noise ##'s as all Generac's I have heard are loud. . not to mention they use Briggs motors [at least the one's I have seen, meaning Generac]

Yes it is by Generac, the smaller units do use the Brigg's motor but the larger generator uses their own twin-V called an OHVI engine, the one I'm looking at is LP powered and produces 7. 5 KW and is inside a insulated steel box similiar to the ONan Marquis line.

Take special notice of the amount of propane that thing'll require: they're THIRSTY!

I went with a gasoline-fuelled generator because of that. [Onan CME7000]

I calculated that the 14 gallons of propane that my trailer carries wouldn't last a full day of full-power use.

The 30 gallons of gasoline lasts me almost 3 full days of heavy use and more for light use.

My neighbor just bought a 48' race trailer with one of those in it. It is louder than my Onan and drinks more gas than his old microlite and my marquis. He's only had it a month or so and it's working fine but it's not in the same class as the Onans (according to his 1st-hand experience).

Rob... if you have the room you may want to consider a liquid cooled diesel generator provided you have the room for it.

You'll get longer life... a well maintained liquid cooled diesel has a life expectancy of up to 30,000 hours... a similar liquid cooled LP unit has about a 5-6000 hour expectancy and an aircooled is MUCH less than that even. An air cooled gasoline unit will run about 3-5000 hours and aliquid cooled up to 10,000... still not as good a diesel.

Plus the diesel will be more efficient, and requires a lot less maintenance both in price and frequency.

Thanx Jason, the only time we'll use the genny is for dry camping which would be seldom, once or twice a year if that much, and then only for a day or two. The new tr has 2 a/c's and needs 7. 5 to cover everything,it will be mounted up top on the hay rack so weight is important. Generac is having a sale on these for about $2200. if it wasn't for the price I wouldn't bother with a genny.
