I removed my muffler by removing the factory clamps and heating the joints with a torch. Disconecting the tailpipe first, (temp. wire it out of the way) then remove the muffler.
Knowing what I know now, I think I would have first ground off the small round welded on knobs (two) that slides into the slots on the top side of the pipes. I think these have to be removed anyway, and it makes removal easier if you can wiggle pipes up, down, and rotate.
You can feel these knobs with your fingers, but to see them you'll have to use a mirror.
Installing the MEP is pretty straight forward, just slip everything together, eye-ball all of the "angles of the dangles" and tighten the clamps.
I love the new sound, and several of my friends and neighbors have said it makes the truck sounds "very powerful".
It worked for me.
