Just installed the cap on my '00 cummins. very nice looking cap! I have to question the clearance between the top of the filter and the cap. I've read some of the older posts on here and it seems no one can say for sure that the reading would be accurate? does it allow enough fuel to the port? Also I was under the impression it was post filter reading, but upon inspection it's a pre-filter reading. I guess I should just go right off the schrader valve. it seems like once U start a project it never ends and cost 4 times what you thought! any thoughts?

Fleetguard has changed the design of the fuel filter making it difficult to install the filter. The new design fits tighter inside the cap, the last time I changed mine I had to shave a little off the edges of the top of the filter with a file so it would fit into the cap. Without shaving a little off I would have had to tap the filter into the cap just to get it in far enough to tighten the cap down. With the filter fitting so tightly inside the cap I don't see how the port could be used. I have a T in the line between the VP and the filter housing for readings.

i have the same cap. i did have a problem with the plastic on the filter swelling and my f/p gauge would stick. even when shut off sometimes. i replaced the old filter and cut some notchs on the sides. next filter change think im gonna take a die-grinder to the cap and make a little passage

I hate to have to modify something that I just paid 60 bucks for and was made for this specific purpose. I'm disappointed in geno's for not correcting an obvious problem and making sound like i'm the only crazy one to think this is a problem.

Don't blame Genos for the problem. Fleetguard changed the design of the filter. Genos just sells the product which I believe is made by TDR member. It's a great product.

I just installed the cap on my 2004. The filter fits snugly into the recess of the cap, everything went together perfectly. I don't think you would get good pressure readings from the top, however, since the new filters (I used the 7 micron Fleetguard from Geno's) fit snugly and pretty well seal off the port. That is simply a result of Fleetguard's new design. The part is beautifully machined and polished. You could open up a channel with a die grinder if you are determined to use the port to monitor fuel pressure on the "dirty" side of the filter. I monitor pressure closer to the CP3 pump so have no need for the port.

the whole point of the cap is an access point for fuel pressure. that's what it is designed for. and it's not just the fleetgaurd filter that does not work, but also the stock dealer filter is questionable at best

well now my lift pump is dead. after I put the cap on it ran for a minute and died. tried bumping the starter 20 times, nothing and then took the line right off, no fuel. I guess I should have set up the gauge sooner.

Well, for me the point of the cap is added strength. If you run the 45 psi FASS and go through the stock filter housing, the billet cap is important.

I received the billet lid on Friday 3-16, and installed it with the new Filter on Saturday 3-17, No pressure at port--I can run the truck without the plug and have '0' fuel leak. So hopefully on Monday 3-19 Geno's will take it back, I don't need strength and I sure didn't need a $60 piece of polished metal back there.
