Hey! Today I noticed a sucking noise from my pillar mount combo gauge. At 30# of boost.

You guys think it's broken, or is the hose just leaking?
This is the 2nd problem with the boost half, there won't be a third.

Trash that junk Gene and buy some good SPA gauges. LOL Gene, if it wasn't for bad luck, you wouldn't have any luck at all.

Are you sure it is leaking? My boost tube rattles a little at high boost levels. I'm pretty sure it is because I left too much slack in the tubing inside the gauge mount. Just a thought.

Thanks for the suggestion, I 'm for sure it's not a rattle, it is a whooshing sucking sound.
Time to plug the hole and call Carl for a good deal!

Yea, thanks Mark, your a lot of help!

RADIXR!! (Oh my gosh!)

I DO read these posts too, you know! I can't believe you would say that with over 4,000 registered users!

I was looking forward to seeing you at the Quaker Steak and Lube Diesel Rally. Now I am going to wear red so that you can't see me! With my red hair and red clothes it should be very easy to stealthily avoid you. You meanie!

My combo gauge "rattles". But it only does it if I hit 2700 RPMs. If I hold 2700 the gauge rattles no matter what the boost. Glad to see I'm not the only one with this problem. Been working on it. Even changed the gauge. Still rattles. It's like it transmits sound from the engine. What's a good source for SPA gauges?

Mine also leaked- It was an annoying whistle that started at a certain pressure. I used a small ty wrap to attach the hose. It was leaking around the hose barb on the back of the guage. Do not use that method- get a spring hose clamp-SMALL. The ty wrap trick just raised the pressure the leak started at and lowered the noise level and leak intensity. The guage is accurate now- not accurate when there is a breeze coming out the end of the hose.

In one of the TDR issues they talked about using a piece of larger hose over the vaccuum hose and a small hose clamp for attaching to the gauge and the brass fitting.

Thanks, I missed that article! But I think thats kind of a band-aid approach. Might be my only choice. Our local parts stores do not keep clamps that small, I've found out.

Gene, I don't know what the back of the geno's gauge is like so this may not work. On my DiPricol boost gauge I have compression fittings on both ends. If I remember right on the back of the boost gauge it was a male npt thread and an adapter attached to it that had the compression fitting. No leaks at all.
