Two questions:
First do the mirror extensios from Geno's snap on and off or do you attach them permanently. Second for you guy's running synthitic oils where do you get the oil analysis' done and what do they normally run in cost also do most of you just change filters and top off the level if the report is good and how long do you go before changing plus is 67,000 miles to late to change to synthitics.

Thanks,
Paul

Over the last 3 years, I've used 4 different oil testing companys. I now use the Amsoil test kit. It's cost is about $13. 50 per/kit. I also pick up different kits at truck stops from time to time and send the same oil sample to 2 different companys. Its kinda fun to see how close they are. With the Amsoil kits you have to pay for shipping. I think its about $1. 25. The kits at the truck stops normaly include prepaid shipping costs and they're about $10. 00 each. You'll find some companys give more information than others, but they all do the basics. Good luck on your sampling Flatlander.

I haven't bought the mirror extensions yet myself, but I'm sure they can be put on and removed very easily. I have seen them on a buddy's truck.

A friend of mine has the miror extensions. They are removeable. The only problem is that they vibrate quite a bit. Wal-mart, Pep Boys ect also sells similar mirors. You could try them and if you didnt like them, take em back.

Just put my Geno's mirror extentions on the other day #ad
Easy install, and you can remove them pretty easy. Gotta tell ya, though, I kinda like the big elephant ears sticking out there so I just left mine on.

Paul:

I have used both Amsoil and CTC. Amsoil used to sell CTC (http://www.ctclink.com/)

I have purchased the last kits directly from CTC. They sold me the last kits (prepaid including shipping) for $95/10 kits.

I have had great service from them.

I change the oil filter every 6K and grab a sample at the same time. Still running stock filtration and get to about 25-30K and the Iron gets to 100 ppm and I dump.

Paul,

I get my analizing done by an outfit called Wheeler machinery , which is the big Caterpillar equiptment dealer in this state.
I think every big Cat dealer offers this service, it's eight bucks a pop. I get a printout that has all the previous ones next to it so it is real easy to track what's happening.

Paul,
I can not tell you about the mirrors, but I can tell you a bit about the Oil analysis.

I have used several different Companies, but I have now decided to stay with the "Oil Analyzers" in Wisconsin. I get the kits from Amsoil, as they are only $13. 75 including the pre-paid postage. You can buy one at a time, or many. I buy 10 at a time as I also sell them to others.

The report is very complete including Acid level and (TBN) Total Base Number of the oil.
