Normally when you install a Borgeson steering shaft it gets bolted up to the stock steering box, so why can't a normal shaft bolt onto the Dodge box

I am also interested. Have you had bad experiences with the borgeson? It seems everyone is unhappy that you cant use a stock shaft. I wouldn't be against upgrading my steering shaft along with the box if the borgeson is quality.

You have to grind a flat on the borgeson inorder to fit a stock shaft according to Genos rep. You cam make it work pretty easy but voids the warranty.

I saw the borgeson box too, seems kinda pricy. I just looked at Napa, I can get a reman one for 245. 00 with 222. 00 core. The stock box has lasted nearly 170,000 miles on my truck with 285/75/16 tires. I cant really justify shelling out nearly $400 for a gear box.

Personally I would risk the warranty issue. But I might not want to fiddle with getting the flat precisely where it needs to be unless I did not care about orientation of the steering wheel, bu tof course I do.

If someone comes up with a nifty way to get that flat oriented I just might go for it. Then again NAPA is tempting. Just want to make sure I wind up with a 3 turn box and not the four turn boxes that were common. I am waiting for my seals to start leaking. 270K miles so far and this box endured 4 or 5 death wobble events back somewhere around 45K-60K miles, trackbar worn.

I think someone ought to make up a T-shirt --- " Dodge 4x4 Death Wobbles Survivor" Or just "Death Wobble Survivor"

Put one on my 97 a couple of weeks ago. It's great.

The steering had become 'vague'(wife's term) so I replaced ball joints and replaced rubber bushings with urethane etc. The only part that made a difference was the Borg Box.

It's precise and faster(3 turns lock to lock).

I've been lusting after a Carli 2. 0, but wasn't going to order it until the steering problem was remedied. The Carli gets ordered this week!

IMHO, well worth the money.

sounds tempting, i have adjusted mine a couple times but only god knows how old it is, truck had 304k on it when i got it and the box was sloppy as hell and now i am at 335k and its pretty decent

heres a thought anybody know what chevy this box came from or is it a new or hybrid chevy/dodge parts application? 400 is a little tough to swallow and an extra 270 for their shaft ain't that wallet friendly either if you don't wanna go voiding the warranty

We installed the box and shaft on my brothers 99 2500 QC (135k) last month. We also put on BD's Steering box stabilizer. It took about six hours and a few beers. Happy with all three. The return to center was gone and the shaft was really worn out. Pitman and idler arms were also changed out. Pitman was worn out. He will get the upper and lower ball joints changed out this coming week. And finally get the front end realigned. Hopefully he can call it good for a few years...
