Thought I would post a picture of how I drilled the holes in the Fumoto Finger Touch Oil Drain Plug. You can see how the oil will drain from the baffles between the bottom of the oil pan and the drain plug threads.

shouldn't the drain holes be a bit farther from the gasket in order to clear the thickness of the threads in the pan?

Brian,
Not on my oil pan. There is a 1/4" baffle between the bottom of the pan and the drain plug threads. That is what causes the oil to go all over the place when you drain it. Next time you drain you oil, get a light and look at the oil pan hole.

I don't know if all the oil pans are made this way or not. I know that mine is and by drilling the holes in the Finger Touch Drain Plug the way it is pictured, I am insured that all of the oil is drain out of my oil pan.

Question for those who have the EZ drain plug;

Will all of your oil drain out of your pan with these baffles? or do you also have to modify your EZ drain plug?

I've modified mine by drilling four holes around the circumference of the threads to meet up with where the baffle drains from. Just be careful to get it to the right height.
