Hello...
Kind of an obscure question to put forward it seems as i haven't even found a hint on a internet search.
So i'm looking at a 1993 Dodge D350 with mini dump firewood truck that's seen some hard bush work.
The relatively low mi. 5.9 runs like a champ but the transmission on the other hand is another story.
The problem,,,, the trans kicks out 1st gear as soon as the clutch is let up. Even on the flat with no load its spits out 1st as soon as the clutch starts to engage.
I realize this trans is gonna need a full overhaul kit, perhaps including the needle bearings too. what im concerned about is 1st gear itself, is this gear going to have damaged teeth where the shift collar engages the gear? im thinking probably so i should replace that too, but where to source that gear? it looks like i can buy a 5th and a 3rd but i didn't see a first gear.
im wondering what would have caused this to start with? perhaps being stuck in the mud and lead footing between forward and reverse in a effort to get moving.
Anybody got insight on this problem ?
Maybe i can buy a good used gear from a rebuilder somewhere, or even here?
Thanks and looking forward to meeting some folks here.
