getrag advise

i think i know what the answer is going to be, but..... we bought a used getrag, of course the guy said the transmission was good... after a new clutch and throw out bearing, and a new slave cylinder, the thing still is grinding in 1 and 2nd gear... we liked to of never got the slave cylinder to bleed all the air out... holden(my sons mechanic buddy) said last night, they finally got the clutch to firm up, still grinding in 1 and 2 gears... . any ideas? thanks, monte
