My getrag is not in good health. :( It is shifting hard when the transmission gets warmed up and the oil has aluminum in it. :{ I would like to know what parts would I most likely need to rebuild it. It still runs quiet but has started coming out of 2nd and fifth gear. I was thinking of buying a rebuild kit with synchros and all new shift forks would these parts most likely fix my poor old getrag?

Thanks for any input as I would like to become a member of the getrag preservation society.

BTW this is not the original transmission it is a mopar reman and there is only 226000 showing on the clock.

A bearing and seal kit, the blocker rings for all the gears, and the shift forks should take care of the symptoms you descride... BUT! You never know till you open it up. In addition to the parts, a bearing press, snap ring plyers, dial caliper or depth micrometer and air tools will be needed.

I hope the parts I was thinking of getting will cure it but I might cut out the floorboard and take a sneak peek at everything.

I pulled the pto cover off and got a look at some of the insides. It appears the shift forks are missing material which would explain the aluminum but I could not see a cause. I went ahead and ordered the rebuild kit with sychros and all new shift forks from zumbrota gear and it only cost me about $320  . I hope these parts can cure my sick transmission :D .
