getrag input shaft

How do I remove the input shaft on my getrag? Transmission is out sitting on the bench just can’t seem to get the input out

Send it to me and I'll take all the unuseable parts off your hands. Seriously, you have to remove the front retainer (4 botls) and bearing race. Line up the flat spot of the input shaft synchro notches at the 6 o'clock position, on the gears of the counter shaft, and wiggle it forward as far as you can. Then remove the tailshaft housing on the rear. Remove the mainshaft assembly, and then you can slide the input shaft back.



This may not be the absolute best explanation, but hopefully it helps

yes the mainshaft has to come out for input shaft removal. You should aquire the getrag overhaul manual that's floating around in pdf format.

Thanks for the replies. Hopefully I will get it removed, I was trying to pull the input before the main shaft
